Kintsugi. The Japanese Method Of Creating Art From Broken Ceramic Objects...

Kintsugi or Kintsukuroi is the Japanese way of honoring and repairing broken ceramic objects with a special lacquer mixed with silver,
gold or platinum.
As a philosophy Kintsugi can be seen to have similarities to the Japanese philosophy of Wabi-Sabi, an embracing of the flawed or imperfect. Perfection being seen as the result of imperfection.
The damaged or flawed being honored as an essential in enhancing an object.
The beautiful pieces here were restored by Morti and Patty at the Lakeside Pottery and Ceramics Restoration Studio.
Kintsugi Do-It-Yourself kits are available also should you wish to embrace this particular
and beautiful art form...

  1. They look better than new ones, for sure.

  2. My father had a front tooth broken early in his adult life. It had been repaired with gold in a similar manner. Must have been a good job on the part of the dentist, as he carried it intact to his grave some 50 years later.
